I no longer wonder,

how GM (General Motors) managed to lose $38 Billion last year, after comments by their CEO, Bob Lutz, who was quoted as saying, "I think that global warming is a total crock of sh*t." With a brilliant mind like that at the helm, I can understand why they are getting left in the dust of the automotive world. Bob Lutz, big time Republican, in case you couldn't tell....

In Toledo, home of GM Powertrain division, Jeep, and the hub of Lake Erie commerce transportation, is now a depressed city. We have little or no manufacturing jobs left in once the best of the "rust belt". Layoffs, early retirements and buyouts are the norm here. Unions rule big manufacturing and unfortunately that is why most companies send products overseas to be manufactured. Small job shops going out of business are at an alarming rate here in NW Ohio, where once manufacturing businesses were on every corner. The trickle down effect hurts everyone in manufacturing. All small manufacturing machine shops depend on the Big Three. It's no longer happening here. The only new business in our area has been First Solar Energy. By, the way, for a big laugh, google our mayor, Carty Finkbeiner. He's the dude who kicked the Marines out of Toledo! Made national news. We are the "Other Ohio" here in northwest Ohio. Check the statistics on jobs near Columbus, Cincinnatti, Dayton, and see what you find. Michigan is even worse than NW Ohio, especially Detroit.

Whew, LadyJ, that makes it all the more personal, and sad. Do you see any light at the end of the tunnel? Things don't look good for the 9former) Big 3, and with people like Lutz in charge, it's not hard to see why. I love Carty Finkbeiner (and it's not just the name) and have been reading about him. Just wish there had been more people like you (with a brain) in Ohio, and wouldn't have been subjected to George Bush, Act II. Let's just hope we can survive. And he wonders what his legacy will be????

For those of you who don't remember, or didn't know, Florida wouldn't have made a difference in the last election if 50,000 people in Ohio had voted differently. I remember watching the returns, at the very end, and just feeling sick. Oh well, it wasn't your fault, LadyJ.

I didn't vote for the S.O.B. in either election (meaning Bush boy). Remember we had Republicans all over the Statehouse then...many who couldn't pour "piss out of a boot", so what did you expect from Ohio? Bush was bought and paid for in this state-twice by powerful money in this state. God only knows What will happen in the Primary here! Now that Romney and most Reps have thrown their support over to McCain the Bush clone.
