Got a call from the folks, today,


about the closing of the Devaney Center in Lincoln NE, and the ceremony for Dave Hoppen, son of her brother Marvin, and my cousin. Dave set all the scoring records (to this day) at the Univ of Nebr, back in '86, and was second all time in the Big 8. Woulda been first, (Waymon Tisdale beat him by 4 pts), but he blew out his knee at CU, right in front of me. Was really sad, but he went on to be the first ever pick by the Charlotte Hornets and played for several tems in the NBA, before shoulder problems sidelined him. Charles Barkley called him 'our token white guy', on the 76'ers.
