was 'goin fishin', games and 'golfing on the putting green'. We had intended to go the annual 'Broomfield Picnic', with food, beer, music, pony rides etc, but Piper decided she'd rather go fishing with Grampa, after I explained we'd start out by netting some minnows, then use them for bait, with a bobber. Long story short(er), she would reach in the bucket, catch a minnow, she'd name it (Fred was a good one), then I'd put it on a hook and we'd toss it out. This MONSTER fish (I'm NOT holding it toward camera to make it look big), nearly the size of Piper, almost pulled her in when I had her help me reel it in. Caught it with 6 lb test, and a salmon egg hook (tiny), and was sure it was gonna get off. Luckily, Ted had his camera with him, cuz I'm sure no one would have believed how big it was. Gave us a good 4th of July memory, after the BBQ ribs, before the desserts and fireworks.
