  I can certainly relate to the feeling that since half the country voted for a profoundly ignorant and psychopathic demagogue who made it crystal clear that he plans (armed with a “get out of jail free” card from SCOTUS) to “burn it all down” – then we should just bolt the door, close the shades and watch the inevitable destruction of   E Pluribus Unum   on TV (this revolution   will   be televised – even if only on Fox/ Pravda ).  It’s hard not to acknowledge the brutal reality embodied in the words of H. L. Mencken when he said, “ Democracy is the system where   the people get what they want, and get it good and hard.”   Believe me, I’ve endured many periods of dark, existential angst since November 5 th .  And yes, a big part of me wants to just pull the covers over my head and spend the next four years hunkered down in survival mode – hoping that this uber-reactionary, meanspirited and vindictive Trumpist revolution overplays its hand to...

True, the Dem ticket wasn’t that appealing and the party went WAY too far left, but the yuuuge majority of voters said their main concern was the economy. The same economy that is the envy of the world, with low unemployment, interest rates and inflation falling, oil production up and prices falling . BUT, FOXNews pounded the LIES about a failing country/economy and the uninformed sheep bought the disinformation, although individually the huge majority of people said they were doing well. Voila, President Donald f-ing Trump, wit( his laughable cabinet and promises to get revenge against his enemies, the press, media and those who held him responsible for Jan 6, stealing Top Secret document, sexual attacks, business/tax fraud and trying to steal the election with Rhe Big Lie. Unf-ing believable, but ...

 Bullshit!  The election was decided by less than 250,000 votes, spread over three states, where they swallow the crap from FOX like it’s the truth. Not to mention the millions of Dems who didn’t vote in CA and NY cuz they knew their vote didn’t count cuz they already had the Electoral College wrapped up, AND, the Pub’s New Rules kept hundreds of thousands out of the voting booth in close districts.   Flash back to Donald Trump’s first campaign for president. It should have been doomed when he mocked John McCain’s years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. Or when he fantasized about one of his supporters shooting Hillary Clinton. Or when, on that “Access Hollywood” tape, he was heard reveling in the genital prerogatives of fame. But no. And that wasn’t just because there were so many Americans so dissatisfied with conventional politicians and politics that Trump’s provocations seemed a necessary solvent for the status quo. It was also because his offenses were so numerous, and came along with such frequency, that no single scandal could get lasting attention. Each faded into the crowd. Trump desensitized his audience as his improprieties became their own unremarkable norm. And while he may not have plotted it that way, he definitely learned his lesson.   During his first term in office, Trump granted 144 pardons. Those included a family member and some of his closest allies who committed crimes ranging from financial fraud to witness tampering and more, plus, seven Republican congressmen, convicted of felonies. And I’m guessing the pig is gonna pardon a BUNCH more when he takes office again, including the mob who injured over 140 police officers. Give me a break, you hypocrites….
