In pursuit of 'birdies',

Image
Bailey reached a new high, this morning. I was outside with her when we saw a robin, sitting on the side of the roof, obviously scolding her. She didn't like it, so she ran up a tree, beside the garden window in the kitchen, leapt to the roof and ran after it. It flew, but then she noticed a sparrow on the peak of the roof, and the hunt was on. She eventually decided to come down and took a flying leap, landed on the closest branch and crawled down the tree. I think I gotta trim the tree back, cause she looked like she had WAY too much fun.

Anyone else notice this?

As good patriotic American citizens, we love the idea of a good education. It is the American dream and what most of us aspire to. BUT, does anyone else see a disconnect, when our youngsters actually GET an education and see the brave new world out there? They usually turn into liberals. DUH.... If you are the lucky recipient of a good American education, which MOST are NOT, (but their votes count the same) there is an OVERWHELMING tendency to turn Liberal/Democrat/Independent/enlightened. Sorry, Repubs, it's just an unfortunate sideline to being educated. Don't believe me? Top ten educ./incomes states are ALL blue. Bottom ten, guess what?? All Red! Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SOOO....

Have you seen the new McCain ad?

where they talk about the high price of gas and energy, then at the end they say, "You know who's fault it is"?, then they show a picture of Obama. Are you kidding??? After Big Oil Bush and Cheney have secret energy policy meetings, followed by an (oops, bad information) attack on the oil basket of the world, and allowing all the big oil companies to merge, it turns out the fault belongs to Obama. WTF! Are there people out there actually stupid enough to believe this drivel? Unfortunately, yes. Lots of them. If you ever question the stupidity/gullibility of the American people, just remember George W Bush was RE-elected. Case closed...

Good news, bad news

Had a fun b-day party for Kari yesterday, steaks and drinks and games. Is always SO much fun to get together w/the kids, but, the bad news, it's over... Got a down payment for the smart car today. The bad news, looks like they're serious about buying my cute little car. Just like real life, good news, bad news. Or, as the French say, "say la vee", or however they spell it....

There she goes...

Image
If I can believe Lenny from Grand Junction, he is picking up the car (AFTER payment), this Monday. Maybe sold it too cheap, but it looks like a done deal. Wish I had a bunch of them...

Here she is!

Image
Our little smart car, sitting in the driveway. Can actually park it in my shop, at the back of the garage. Kinda like it and am gonna miss it if/when I sell it.

Gonna write this,

while it's still fresh. Just watched a (Netflix) movie, and although I'm the first to admit, it's definitely a chick-flick, I REALLY liked, 'Definitely, Maybe'. Might not admit it, tomorrow, but, it touched something, somehow. An old-fashioned love story, with the little girl from 'Little Miss Sunshine' and the chick from 'Wedding Crashers", BUT what made it good was that it kept my interest all the way thru, and what more can you ask for, from a movie. Fantasic dialogue. Prob'ly never win an Oscar, but who cares...

Vote for me!

Got my new Smart Car today

and, a kinda funny story. Was mostly thru the closing, and really appreciated the fact that my brand new salesperson, Patti Trujillo, who happened to be less than 5 ft and under 100 lbs, not that that had anything to do with anything, agreed not to try to 'sell me' a bunch of accessories. Anyway, about 3/4 way thru the transaction, there was a big disturbance on the street, right in front of the dealership, as about 8 cop cars and 12 cops, with guns drawn, hiding behind their cruisers, hauled 3 perps out, threw 'em on the hot asphalt, cuffed 'em, with knees in their backs, and drug 'em off to jail. Bottom line, Patti, the new salesgirl, FORGOT to have me pay for the car, and I forgot, too. Was on my way home, when I got a call from her, pleading with me to come back and pay for it. Messed with her for awhile, then turned around, went back and paid for it. Am actually really happy w/the new Smart car after I drove it home at 75 MPH on the turnpike. Pretty cool

The Dark Knight,

Image
the new Batman movie, is AMAZING. even though I am not a Batman or comic book character fan. Maybe a little long, BUT, the performances are all first class. Highest rating I have ever seen on IMDB.com, and well worth it. You keep asking yourself, "How did they DO that"? I predict that Heath Ledger will win a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of 'The Joker'. Pretty easy call, actually...

View of Vegas,

Image
as I came in for a landing on the strip. So real it was SCARY. (See next post for explanation)

The new sim

Image
Jen and Jess had a pre-ship party for their new, 3rd generation flight simulator, before it was shipped out this week. These kids saw a market and developed an amazing product. I chose to take off, do some tricks, then fly into Vegas and try to land on the strip, but misjudged a bit and finally crashed into the fountain at Bellagio. 'Twas so real, Carol screamed and got airsick. Really! I broke out in a sweat and was queasy for 15 minutes. So proud of what these two, with a great education, imagination and work ethic have been able to accomplish, with their own company. Check it out, http://www.paradigmshiftsolutions.com/ Congrats, kids.

What are the odds?

Immediately after Padraig Harrington won the British Open, on the other side of the world, today, the first two commentaries/interviews were from Rick Reilly and Judy Rankin, close relatives of guys in my regular foursome for years. Dave Rankin and John Reilly. Pretty small world...

It's HERE!

Got a call from the local smartcar dealer, and my new car just arrived. Will be ready to pick up on Tuesday. Already there's some extra charges, but hopefully not TOO many. Plan to play with it for awhile, then pass it on to someone who needs to save some $$ on gas. Will be my first ever NEW car, if it happens. We'll see...

Quote of the day,

by Peter Beinart, "It is quite possible to love your country and still want it to be better."

Any ideas,

on how to make a deadbeat pay up? Had a good day on the golf course the other day and won $306, BUT, the new guy in our group (first time, last time) is now not returning calls or e-mails. Kinda pisses me off, if you know what I mean. He is a local electrician, and I think has has the $, but he's just being a jerk. Would let him pay in installments or let him try to win it back, but no luck, SOO, loyal readers, am soliciting suggestions to help this deadbeat 'do the right thing', if you know what I mean. Please use your imaginations, and there will be a reward if your idea is used and it works. Put those devious brains of yours to work. Thanks...

Has anyone else noticed,

that in all the political ads, (and I mean ALL, around here), none of the Repubs claim a political affiliation? The Dems proudly claim membership, but the R's, don't want to be associated with Bush and the party that has gotten us into such a mess. Can't really blame 'em...

John McCain photo when asked,

Image
if he remembered who won the war in Viet Nam. He claims he is more qualified to lead the US (to neverending war in Iraq), because, in his words, "I know how to win wars". Oh Really! Seems to me the only war he was involved in was Viet Nam, and not even an ignorant right-winger could claim victory there. Seems like just the guy we need to continue with the worst foreign policy EVER.

SO, here we are,

7+ years into your man Bush's reign. The war in Iraq was a great idea. The economy is fantastic, although his buddies in Big Oil struggle to make a living. The dollar is doing well and the rest of the world respects us. Right? We need more of that stuff. GO McCain!! What's wrong with those naysayers????

Moronic gullibilty,

Image
is a term I originated, that I'm very proud of, to describe a certain element of the population. What better way to describe someone who actually believes what Bush says? How many times do you have to be lied to, to actually say, "Whoa, how stupid am I, to believe this crap?" Let me guess. You are in economic trouble? SURPRISE!. Who woulda guessed, someone with your brain power could have been fooled? Knock me over with a feather....

Is there anything more disconcerting,

than to watch W stumble through another photo op, saying the economy is, ' a little slow', ( good definition of HIM), but gonna be fine. Don't know about you, but it sure made me feel better..

The CIA admitted, today,

Image
that over 90% of the info gathered by torture (but 'only' if other methods don't work) was fabricated and 'useless'. Tortured people saying anything to stop the barbaric practices of the gov't that used to be 'the good guys'. And you wonder why the world's opinion of the US is at an all time low?

Ya' think anyone's making $$,

on the nuclear waste dumping station in Yucca Mountain in Nevada? The Bush administration announced, today, that the cost of the facility has more than doubled, to over $90 billion. NINETY BILLION for a hole in the desert to hold nuclear waste. Think any of his buddies have a finger in that pie?

Typical rightwing BS

Image
McCain is quoted as saying, 'Obama shouldn't criticize the war in Iraq until he's met with the generals over there'. RIGHT.... As if, after 5 years of this disastrous mistake, a presidential candidate isn't entitled to express a view about the worst decision of the worst president, ever. And some people actually believe this crap from the Repubs. Anything to take the emphasis away from the economy that Bush and his crooked cronies have totally ransacked. It's still nearly impossible for me to accept the moronic gullibility of a certain segment of society out there.

New pet,

Image
(file picture, not actual baby rabbit) for Ted and Kari. Actually, a pet's pet, for Bella. Cute, soft little thing, called an American Fuzzy Lop. Loves to cuddle. Is kinda cute, but NO, Carol, you can't have one...

For all the kitty fans,

Image
out there, here's a shot of Miss Bailey, relaxing on the deck. She was outside with me, this morning, when she saw a squirrel in a nearby tree. She ran, full speed, up the trunk, chasing it to the to the high branches, until it leaped to another tree. She seemed to consider following, but, reluctantly, gave up the chase. I don't know what she'd do if she caught one, not that she could...

Did you know,

that the only time in our history that control of the U.S. armed forces left the military, and temporarily went to the executive branch (Dick Cheney), was on 9-11, (BEFORE the attacks), and the Air Force wasn't able to stop the planes that were obviously hijacked? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGI5BmNd7AE Cheney managed to get control, because of a special 'security exercise' that involved a 'fake' attack, by jetliners on the East Coast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em_XyTeNA1g That 67 out of 67 times in the previous year, Air Force jets intercepted airliners in the same situation, BUT, he overuled the military? I know, VERY hard to believe, BUT, Google it yourself. Use words like 'Cheney, 9-11, military exercise'. It's all there, and it's all about Iraq and oil ('we need a Pearl Harbor', is what Cheney said, to be able to attack Iraq). We know it worked, BUT are you ready to believe Cheney helped make it happen? I could give you MANY r

Innocent victim

of vicious golf ball attack. This little frog, a gift from Laura, had dutifully held our rain guage for the last few years, but, in a cowardly attack from the 9th tee-box, was recently damaged by a flying Titleist. Poor thing, never saw it coming. Not like we'd had any rain to measure anyway....

In a typical move,

Karl Rove ignored a subpoena to appear in court. Rove, the brains behind a brainless president, has refused to testify about 'under the table' political moves that determined some critical elections. Seems he decided to press unfounded charges against some Democrats in crucial contests. Totally bogus charges, at exactly the right time=Rove tactics. It worked, BUT, was totally illegal. Hope they hang his plumpy, white ass..

Daddy daughter day

at Coal Creek today. Kari and I played 18, on the hottest day of the year. 97 degrees! Yuck, for the heat, BUT, it is always a good day when I am on the golf course, and an even better day when I'm with Kari. 'Twas a great day and we're doing it again on Saurday. Could be worse. Some people don't get to live in Colorado...

OMG!

Just saw that foreclosures were up 53% since last June! It's bad and getting worse, faster than even I thought it would. Where is the bottom? Way down there, I think. Stay tuned.....

McCain commercial:

Have you seen it? Starts out showing some Woodstock hippie stuff and talks of 'Summer of Love' If you were there, you KNOW what it was about. BUT, the commercial says, McCain had a different kind of love. His love had to do with dropping bombs from 40,000 feet. For those of us that were there, we know that Viet Nam was a bullshit economic war, just like Iraq. How stupid do you have to be to think that qualifies someone to be president?

What is wrong with you people?

You want another 4 years of Bush policy? 'Shit happens', I know, but what we have now, and I'm talking HUGE problems, from housing, to oil, and Iraq, didn't just happen. It was caused by a greedy incompetent administration who put the interests of their people (big oil) before those of the American people. If you can't see that, you ain't tryin'. Sure, John McCain seems like a nice, patriotic guy, BUT, he's just another Republican with the same agenda, and we've 'been there, done that', and it sucks, BIG TIME. Sure, Iraq is better at the moment, but at $350 million a day, PLUS casualties, IS IT WORTH IT? Of course not. Go ahead, watch Fox News, keep your head where the sun don't shine, and I hope this coming depression finds you in a bread line, where you can thank George W Bush and his cronies. BUT, I doubt if you'll be smart enough to figure out where the line starts.

Not that I'm back, BUT,

Image
I'm pissed. Just saw a partial 'Larry King Live', show, where people called in after hearing that the Ramsey's were cleared by DNA, in Jon Bebet's death, 12 years ago. If you happened to actually live around here, and saw and heard the facts of the story, not just the national media hype, you KNEW the parent's didn't do it, and all the insinuations were just thrown out there to sell stories. Now, with new DNA technology, there is incontrovertible proof that there was a 3rd party male. BUT, the idiots are still out there, and getting the air-time. This new evidence means nothing to them. The parents are guilty! They must be. They lived in Boulder, let their daughter compete in beauty contests, and hired a high powered lawyer to protect themselves. Guilty, guilty, guilty! It was probably a hired killer, that would explain it. Poor John Ramsey, lost his beautiful daughter, then wife, lived under a cloud of suspicion, and now is convicted all over again by the s

OK, I've been holding back,

and it hurts. George Bush is such an incompetent idiot, and those that support him are such ignorant jackasses, I can't be quiet anymore. Will be back, sooner than I thought, with more insights. Couple o' more days off, and 'Look out W'. With apologies to my couple of regular readers, I can't hold it in anymore. Am in the process of rebuilding, and hope I'm back, stronger than ever, in a couple o' days....(And I thought I was gonna be able to look the other way for a month or so...)

Right after 9-11,

W stood beside the ruins and promised to bring those responsible to justice, and rebuild the towers. As usual, he was lying.

While I'm gone,

Enjoy this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrEdjaJt9iY

I've seen some great

sporting events, but the Wimbledon final, between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has got to be among the best ever. I'm not a real big tennis fan, BUT I am a real fan of great athletics, whatever the sport. In the 'longest ever' final match, Nadal went ahead 2-0, in a best of 5 match, only to have Federer come back to win the next two, in tie-breakers. The fifth and final set (that can't have a tie-breaker), went extra sets, before Nadal finally broke Federer's serve, and went on to win, ( 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7), breaking a 5 year run by Roger Federer, who would have been the first player since 1927 to come back after being down 2-0. For anyone who enjoys true athleticism, it was a match for the ages, between two true superstars.

For, 'Lack of Interest',

mostly on my part, this blog is cancelled until further notice. Not that anyone will notice....
