  Less than 100 days into Donald Trump's second term, a segment of Americans are already fatigued with his presidency, Republican political strategist Karl Rove wrote in a   guest column   for The Wall Street Journal. Much of what Trump promised on the campaign trail is done or has the full attention of his administration, Rove wrote in the column published Wednesday. However, "Every week the White House throws its weight behind a new issue that went largely or entirely unmentioned during the campaign. Rename the Gulf of Mexico! Acquire Greenland! Take back the Panama Canal! Make Canada the 51st state! Americans find themselves asking, 'Where did that come from?'" Rove wrote, as Trump continues to create chaos, rather than fulfilling campaign promises.

Trump and his supporters seem to disdain the free market because it means the economy will efficiently decide what's best. He wants to control it out of a nostalgia for the era of American manufacturing dominance and is willing to sacrifice the strength of our economy for that misplaced sense of loss.   Trump’s tariffs will weaken the rest of the economy in order to help a  small percentage of those who are unemployed . Weakening the corporate class in favor of manufacturing appeals to Trump voters, but it is bad for America as a whole, as we lose seven good jobs for every low wage job we get.

He didn't use the word, but that's  the combination dubbed "stagflation"  when it struck the Jimmy Carter administration.
