Roadkill, Louisiana style

Image
Just a reminder, for myself, as to what could be on the horizon. I have one of the strangest jobs imaginable. Months of doing nothing, then, WHAM, we need you 2000 miles away, in a disaster zone, RIGHT NOW. And no, we don't have a place for you to stay, but you got 100 hot claims to do. Good luck. Not complaining, because it is kinda interesting, BUT, am not looking forward to another Katrina. I know I am overdue, and it is gonna happen. Just don't know when or where. When I was younger, it was more exciting, and more dangerous, but now it is mostly inconvenient. I am very comfortable and happy with my life, thank you, and don't feel the urge for another adventure. But, it's just a matter of time, I'm afraid, and I'm "On the Road, Again", as Willie would say. Oh well, who knows when/where/why, but I do know it's gonna happen. At least it's not a BORING job.....

Allie and auntie Carol

Just had this pic pop up on my screensaver, and noticed "what a couple of lovely ladies", and thought I'd share it.

This is Bailey,

Who jumped up on the counter this morning, and landed in a butter dish. It kinda freaked her out, and she ran around, leaving kitty prints, in butter, all over. She wasn't even sorry, but did enjoy cleaning her paws.....

Surprised? Not me....

House OKs Penalties for Gas-Price Gouging By H. JOSEF HEBERT AP WASHINGTON (May 23) - The House of Representatives, eager to do something about record high U.S. gasoline prices in advance of a holiday weekend, voted narrowly Wednesday to approve stiff penalties for those found guilty of price gouging .The bill directs the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department to go after oil companies, traders or retail operators if they take "unfair advantage" or charge "unconscionably excessive" prices for gasoline and other fuels. The White House called the measure a form of price controls that could result in fuel shortages. It said President George W. Bush would veto the legislation should it pass Congress . ****** (Taken from AOL News), If W's promised veto even somewhat surprises you, you are truly an idiot. This is who this guy is, and what he does. He is there for the oil comapnies to make massive, obscene profits, and is not even concerned with putting up a p...

Just thinking back,

Image
to the swim-up bar at Iberro. When it got too warm at the pool, or you were tired of the beach, there was always the the swim-up bar, with the waterfall. And the drinks were priced just right. FREE......

No shoes allowed

Image
When was the last time you went to a wedding and had to leave your shoes? Ted and Kari's wedding had beautiful gowns and tuxedos, but no shoes. Nice choice, I think. She did pick up a little from her dad, the old hippie....

And, did you know,

that the Bush administration gave out out over 2.5 BILLION$ ( in 2005), to "Faith Based Initiatives", (our tax dollars) to religious organizations to spend as they pleased (think Big-Haired Southern preachers who can always use a new Cadillac), as long as those congregations were in-line with the Bush programs. Step out of line, as in "not support the war in Iraq", and you lose the money. Our constitution calls for 'separation of church and state', BUT, this is his constituency, and he pays them to stay in line. Question HIS war, and you stand to lose 'tax-exempt status', PLUS huge cash bonuses. If you're gonna control the largest voting bloc in the nation, you gotta figure out how to do it. Throw in FOX news, Clear Channel radio and it all becomes clear. Gotta give 'em credit, the Rove-lead party has learned how to do it. It's just really scary, when you think about it...

Did you know,

that the Bush administration, signed into law, in August, 2006, a bill that provided tax breaks, and SUBSIDIES, ( over $28 BILLION ), for oil companies, while those same companies are setting ALL-TIME records for profits?? We, as tax payers are paying Big Oil, to screw us. It's all there, (just Google' oil companies subsidies') and see how Georgie Boy, the oil companies biggest fan, signed legislation to pay subsidies, AND reduce taxes, for the same companies that are setting all-time records for profits. Yes, we are paying oil companies an 'oil depletion allowance', out of our tax dollars. Think of that when you fill up at $3.29/gal ($1.29 when W took office), AND pay your taxes. Just when you think it can't get any worse....

This is Laura,

Image
who admits, 'she gets frisky, when she drinks whiskey', and 'things are fine when she drinks wine', 'it'll all begin, when she drinks gin', 'just watch, when she hits the Scotch', and 'never fear, when she drinks beer, SOOO, you can tell, she's a very happy person. Luckily, she was wearing her favorite orange shirt when the airlines lost her luggage, so at least she had something, for the week...

My beautiful wife,

Image
who's trying to act like she's having agood time on the beach in Mexico. She just gave me a great B-day get together with the kids, including golf, food/drinks, and games afterward. A perfect b-day party for the old man. Thanks, honey....

Worst in History

is how Jimmy Carter describes the Bush Administration. He is not the first, nor will he be the last, but probably one of the best 'credentialled'. He has a unique perspective as to world politics, and is for the most part, very underspoken. BUT, no one can look at what this clown has done and remain quiet, including me. Worst in history, without a doubt. If you doubt, just wait a few years and let history judge this asshole. Without a doubt.... Worst ever........

Stolen picture

Image
It's from from Laura's blog, but I liked it so much, I just stole it. Have tried to access the pro pictures, but I just can't get them to transfer in quality good enough to print. Anyway, don't know who took this one, but I sure like it. It really captures the moment....

Special delivery

Image
The rest of us had to walk, but, SOME people get special treatment. Oh well, I guess if you look that pretty, you deserve to be treated special. Special lady on her special day. Luv ya' honey...

Denial

Is not just a river in Egypt. Watching Tony Blair, whose career crashed and burned after hooking up with W, saying, along with Bush, who wrecked the Republican party, and whose approval rating is at 28% and dropping, say, "Yeah, we did the right thing". These two give politicians a bad name, which is tough to do. Obviously, some people cannot admit a mistake. But, hey, they can watch FOX news, and never have to confront reality. It's a disease, called Headupthebuttitis. Probably terminal....

CROX update

Image
Please excuse me for saying "I told you so", but along with "Iraq is a huge mistake", I have also been pumping Crocs stock on this site since it was in the mid 20's (Not that long ago). Today it is up another $3, hopefully closing over $76. Every once in awhile the old man gets something right, and when I do, I will let you know. Bush sux and Crocs rox. 'Nuff said....

Kids

Image
Finally got 'em both married off. Whew... Now the ol' lady and I can finally relax and party around here......

Happy Mother's Day

Image
to my mom. She's a real trooper, who has had way more than her share of medical problems, but hasn't let them get her down. A child of the Dust Bowl/depression, then WWII, she has been a piano teacher for over 60 years, best friend of her husband Lee, and a Jesus-loving Christian. Wish I could have been a better son for her, but I guess I could have been worse (maybe a little). Anyway, know I love you and am thinking of you on your special day. Thanks for your guidance, genes, and generosity. Wish you were here for a big hug, but hope to see you soon....

This was funny,

Image
when Jesse exchanged places with Kari's masseuse, without her realizing,,,, for awhile. Jesse laid some fancy moves on her and she took it,,, for awhile. Then she turned over, with a sour look on her face, realized what was going on, and said, "I was wondering why my massage turned to crap."

Wedding prayer

Image
I gotta admit, the Mexican preacher, was one of my concerns going into the wedding. But.... He was fantastic. The entire ceremony was excellent, I thought, but I am somewhat biased. What a beautiful bride, huh? Pretty good groom, too. Couldn't have hand picked a better one. Congratulations newlyweds.....

One of the pools

Image
at IberroStar. When you get tired of the beach, you can swim in one of the pools, or just find a lounge chair and read a book or listen to some music, while you try to decide whether to have a coktail or a snack. Decisions, decisions....

Ugly

Image
If you ever have the choice of getting a staph infection, or not, I would recommend NOT....

Rehearsal

Image
for the "Beach Wedding". On May, 4, we had a rehearsal for the real thing. The beach setting was perfect, and most everyone was there. Nate and Laura, who got bumped from the flight, because of United's incompetence, ended up in Nashville, but eventually made it down. So did their luggage, on the seventh night of an eight day trip. Other than that, things went VERY smoothly, I thought. Hope we can get a website up soon, so people can post their pics. I didn't get many 'cause I was in the wedding, but I'm sure people got some good ones. Kari was SO beautiful, and I'll never forget the entire experience. The wedding photographers did a fantastic job, so we will have great pics to share with all who want to see them. More later.....

Where do I start?

It was a fantastic wedding, on one of the prettiest beaches in Mexico, with 40 friends and relatives. Can't believe it's over, but will post stories when I get more time. Kari was a beautiful bride and I have the pics to prove it. Too much to do right now, but will be back soon....
