Saw a special, on Haliburton
that made me so pissed off, I could hardly watch. Won't go into all the gory details, but highlights included. $150,000 trucks, in Iraq, with no spare parts, as in spare tires or oil filters, so if they had any problems, they were destroyed, so the enemy couldn't get 'em, then replaced w/new ones, that were also destroyed. Luxury SUV's rented at $7000/month, on 3-year contracts, for most the Halliburton employees, including secretaries who never left the compounds. Halliburton laundry services, that the soldiers HAD to use, (even though they were substandard) that cost $100/load. 6-packs of soda, sold to the military, for $70/six-pack. Holiday meals. at over $100 each. Caravans of empty trucks, with paid escorts, making round trip stops at several installations, and charging as if there were full loads at each stop. Huge no-bid, 'cost-plus' contracts, handed out to Halliburton for construction, meals, lodging, etc, where they were encouraged to spend as much as possible, so the "cost' of 'cost-plus' could be as high as possible. Whenever there were any questions about the obvious waste, graft and corruption, the Cheney people in congress would kill the investigations, in the name of national security. In the first 2 years, Halliburton stock went up 4-fold, then went much higher from there. The head of Halliburton (used to be Cheney) made over $40 million/year, PLUS bonuses. There's much more, but you get the picture. KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, operated in the same manner. And you wonder why Bush/Cheney lied and rushed to war?????
