It's hard to agree on much,

when the two (worse than worthless) political parties discuss anything. BUT, some issues are obvious, such as, much of our nations' infrastructure is outdated and disintegrating. Also, unemployment is a major problem, AND, at current interest rates, money is historically cheap. Seems obvious, right, that WPA-type projects would be a win-win situation. That is, UNLESS, you are a Repub whose worst nightmare is an improving economy for the 2014-16 elections, SO, they fight every effort to provide employment by hiring workers to do the obvious, while they threaten to cause MAJOR damage by refusing to pay the nations' debts, when budget deliberations 'hit the fan', on Oct 1, even though the deficit is in MUCH better shape than it was when they were in charge.The fiscal responsibility that was totally absent from 2000-2008 is now a major concern to these clowns, who gave us the worst recession since the Great Depression. What a joke, as they do all they can to fight the economic improvement that will keep them out of office.
