The Pubs love to ask,

Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago? For most, the answer is "unquestionably yes", cuz we're not looking at the imminent collapse of the banking system as well as the rest of the economy. Remember? Before he was run out of town with a 22% approval rating, Bush wrote over $860 billion in checks to the bankers, all the car companies were going broke, housing was crashing, unemployment was running rampant, we had 2 (Repub) wars going and the contagion was spreading across the world, after 8 years of Bush and company. I'd say we are MUCH better off. Not even close, but don't ask the sheep, whose view is obstructed by the rectums encasing their craniums.
