Mosque at ground zero

First of all, it's not a mosque, that's proposed. It's a community center for those of Islamic faith. Second, it's not at ground zero. If you are familiar with this area, as I am, (Carol and I walked this part of Lower Manhattan a few months ago) you realize that there are blocks in NYC, and there are BLOCKS. Between streets, as in the distance between 47th and 48th, it is a normal city block, BUT, between avenues, such as between 6th and 7th Ave, these blocks are over 3 times as long. The proposed 'mosque' is 2 avenues away, or about 6 normal city blocks. Doesn't matter to the rightwing cons, anything to stir up a fight and divert attention from our main problem, which IS, the economy that they trashed. Nothing new here, but the 'Mosque at Ground Zero' is typical bullshit designed to incite the sheep that don't know any better, and it works, cuz there's LOT'S OF 'EM....

From what I gather, there already is a Mosque in the general area of Manhattan not far from "Ground Zero". Also, there were 300Muslims killed, along with the thousands of Christians, Jews, Agnostics, Atheists, Buddists, Hindus.
As for myself, I would rather it not be built there, or if so, have it be a multi-religious building, embracing all, rather than one.

Sure it's a community center, not a typical mosque, but there is a mosque for prayer. Small point, but seems everyone is calling it a mosque.

I've also been to NYC and have been to that area of Manhattan (in 2002). Looking at a map, I'm confused about your streets and avenues. There are no avenues between 6 World Trade Center on Vesey St and 51 Park Pl. Go two blocks north on W Broadway and you're there.

The nearest mosque now, according to Google maps, is really not in the "general" area, if you're a New Yorker. It may look close, but it's not really.

If you look north, on Manhattan, you got streets in front/behind you, and avenues to left and right. The mosque(?), is to your right from ground zero, several (normal)blocks away.

OK, Steve, just looked at an actual map, and you are right, not typical avenues. Still, several hundred yards away, BUT, what is the arguement here? Gotta admit though, Obama is out of touch. Ain't no good guys amongst the Dems/Repubs.

I'm not a New Yorker...never have seen a map of New York...been to Airports, that's the best I can do for ya' Steve. If you want to nitpick, which you seem to do on a regular basis, I am only going on what I heard or maybe read via media. "General" could mean miles for all I know, Okay? Get the broomstick out of your anus.
