The rats are beginning to gather, on the side of the listing ship, and MJT has already jumped.

To suggest that the USS Donald J. Trump is taking on water and the rats are jumping ship sounds overly dramatic. Then again…

Consider Trump’s health. Physically and cognitively, it certainly seems to be failing. His ankles have the circumference of a linebacker’s neck. He often nods off in televised meetings. His incoherent statements, often called “word salads,” would be laughable if they weren’t so alarming.

Consider the mounting failure of Trump’s lies. On the economy, on health care, on the Epstein files, on immigration, on foreign policy, on his One Big Beautiful Bill, etc. The polls are clear on the dwindling effect of his cajolery. Not just one poll, but many.

Waiting too late to flee a foundering ship can be fatal. Rats intuitively know this. One might think politicians would, too − given the obvious similarities. But politicians don’t have a rat’s eons-long evolutionary history. The best they have is their intelligence. And for a lot of politicians, that’s no better than flipping a coin.
