After an enjoyable vacation in Portugal and Spain, we finished with three days in Barcelona.
Just in time to experience the civil unrest between the Spanish in the south and the Catalonians in the north, who want to secede. Their leaders got long prison sentences and the people rioted, shutting down major streets and highways as well as the airport where over 40 policemen and hundreds of demonstrators were injured.
At night there were fires in the streets, marches and incessant banging on pots and pans around our hotel, as well as barking dogs, police sirens and helicopters.
We were lucky to catch a flight out, standing in line at the airport, for hours, after our flight was changed, while many people didn’t.
We flew into Newark, right into a bomb cyclone, (today’s description), that caused us to circle for nearly an hour through terrible turbulence, (causing us to miss our connecting flight) bouncing around with MANY passengers throwing up, incl those right behind, in front and beside me.
The sounds and smells were memorable.
We finally got the last two seats on another flight to Denver where we sat in the plane, on the ground for over two hours (after a nine hour flight, before a four hour flight), finally taking off into more turbulence.
Long uncomfortable flight home, with sore butts and backs in the uncomfortable United Airlines seats, but we eventually made it.
I don’t remember travel being so difficult, which included large crowds, even during the ‘off season’.
Still beats sitting on the couch, though, and I was again reminded how much the Europeans hate
Dotard and how some fellow travelers, (on our tour), being such HYPOCRITES as they claim to be Christians while supporting the pig in the White House, who is just using the gullible Bible Belters,
(who look past his LIES, sex scandals, Russian backing, incompetence, bankruptcies, hidden income tax returns, emolument problems, pissing off our allies, etc).
