Although I was fortunate (lucky’ enough not to be shipped off to Viet Nam, for that crazy, stupid war that defined my generation, I had lots of friends and acquaintances who weren’t so lucky.

After they returned from the horrors of jungle fighting and decompressed with their GI benefits, incl college tuition, I had a chance to hear LOTS of stories from the poor suckers who fought in that misguided war as we sat around living rooms, parks and campfires.

One thing that always came through was their like and respect for the Hmong and Montagnards, the highland jungle tribes who fought with and for the US troops.

During and after the fall of Saigon the US govt made huge and successful efforts to relocate the people who risked their lives for us and were sure to be killed and tortured by the NVA.

There are several ‘neighborhoods’ of them here in Colorado, esp in Lafayette and Thornton, where they have opened many nail salons and restaurants. (I love their Pho).

Not so with Dotard and the Kurds, who he turned over to their ancestral enemies, who will kill, torture and take the land of our ‘former’ allies who bet on the wrong side.
