On this Memorial Day, when I think of my dad and other veterans who served our country,, we mustn’t forget what Trump had to say about them, in June of 2020.

The president has repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members, and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, multiple sources, including former Chief of Staff John Kelly, tell The Atlantic.

And then there is Captain Bonespurs’ comments on John McCain, who sat in a cell for years, until all his men were released from the North Korean prison.

Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level. 

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
