Rick Reilly's article this week

is extra good. As some of you know, my bud Rick, 10 times Sportswriter of the Year, has the last page of Sports Illustrated each week, and consistently has amazingly poignant sports related/human interest stories. This week, his "Gamers to the End" article is about 5 young American athletes, from different parts of the country, each with a compelling, interesting story. He gives the background of each one, then asks if we know what they have in common. The answer? All killed in Iraq last week. Quoting Rick, "Athletes love teams, and when they run out of sports teams they sometimes join bigger teams, with 'coaches' sending them into a hell they never imagined. And they throw their whole selves into it, because they are brave and disciplined and will chew through concrete to win the game. But what if the game can't be won?" Well said, Rick. Read the whole thing in the new SI....
