Mark Carney Announces Major New International Alliances As Canada Pivots Away From U.S.

Amid Canada's effort to diversify its trade away from the U.S. following President Donald Trump's repeated threats and attacks on the country, Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday announced he will soon be embarking on a new major international trip.

Carney will travel to India, Australia and Japan from Feb. 26 to March 7.

"In a more uncertain world, Canada is focused on what we can control," Carney said in a statement. "We are diversifying our trade and attracting massive new investment to create new opportunities for our workers and businesses. We are forging new partnerships abroad to create greater certainty, security and prosperity at home."
