As we look around, at Trump’s private ICE Army, his stoopid tariffs and insane war that have screwed up the ENTIRE WORLD, we must ask ourselves…How did we get here?

 Trump (who has always lived in a fantasy world where “facts” are whatever he thinks they should be) has managed to con half the nation into believing in his fantasy world – just by the sheer force of his stubborn insistence that reality itself is whatever he says it is.

 

Of course Trump didn’t start this downward spiral into egotistical madness – but he capitalized on it from his first day in office back in January, 2017 – when he insisted that the crowd at his inaugural on the National Mall was “The largest crowd ever assembled to witness an inaugural address”.  He also claimed that the weather during his speech was “sunny” – when it was overcast with a steady drizzle during most of his speech.

 

Remember that?  Remember how totally batshit crazy that sounded?

 

I still can’t wrap my mind around how many Americans fall for such utter bullshit – outright lies that can be easily and empirically disproven by veritable mountains of readily-available evidence.  The best explanation I can come up with is that A) many Americans are just extremely uneducated and wantonly stupid (remember “I love the uneducated!”) and B) many Americans are so disillusioned and disappointed by their lived reality that they consciously choose to live in a fantasy world – one which their Dear Leader weaves for them like a bedtime fairy tale every day - and then has his cronies like Leavitt, Bessent and Rubio repeat ad nauseum so that the fantasy is amplified.

 

Of course Josef Goebbels understood that “If you tell a Big Lie often enough, people will come to believe it.”  The people of 1930s Germany certainly did.  And now it turns out that 90 years later – We the People (well, many of Us) are no better.
