The Iran War Is a Whole New Level of Quagmire for the US

No one seems to have a solid strategy to win the war in Iran.

The situation is reminiscent of the darkest days of the Iraq war, in the mid-2000s, when the U.S. seemed unable to pull that country back from insurgency and civil war. But while the death rate in the Iran conflict has so far been lower, the stakes are much higher, as the entire world pays for Trump’s mistakes, in the form of higher energy prices. Much higher. 

America’s credibility is sinking due to its Middle East missteps while China’s star is on the rise, as Trump fray’s relationships with former allies and vacillates on all aspects of his war, with no end in sight, while constantly saying, ‘We’re close to an agreement, or it’s over, we won,’, six months into his five week war.

Whoever succeeds Trump will have an extraordinary mess on their hands, but also an extraordinary opportunity to show global leadership.

In the meantime, surely some new ideas are forthcoming. Does anyone know how to build a large wooden horse?
