After crossing 'the channel',

we eventually got to Amsterdam, and had a tour of the city with a local guide in a great 'tour boat'. It was a Sunday afternoon and it seemed like half the city was out enjoying the wonderful weather. The summer in that part of the world had been cool and rainy and fortunately we enjoyed near perfect weather for out entire trip. After exploring the neighborhood with many 'coffeshops' around our hotel, where you could get a buzz just breathing the air, we had a fantastic dinner in a historic restaurant, then followed our guide on a walking tour of the 'red light' district. Actually pretty tame, but every so often you'd see one of the girls haggling with a guy, then they'd leave, and you'd realize where you were. One thing I noticed, in the 'coffeshops', was that Denver's MMJ shops had a much larger selection, at much lower prices, than Amsterdam. Who'd a thunk? Amsterdam is a bit like Venice, but the canal system is WAY larger. Interesting place and people.
