Have had lots of raptors,

Image
migrating through the flyway along the lakes and fairways, where we live, including Great Horned owls, some big red-tailed hawks and others I couldn't recognize, but the latest have been some beautiful kestrels. Saw four yesterday as they were hunting this area during a rest stop. Really cool lookin' little hawks that can do some  serious aerial acrobatics.

Just got HBO, again,

Image
and one of the first things we saw, was 'Game Change', about John McCain choosing Sarah Palin as his VP  candidate. Nothing really new, as we saw who Sarah really is, as the mayor of Wasilla, and the gov of a state where she can 'see Russia', but who doesn't have a clue when it comes to world matters, and it became more obvious every time she opened her mouth. Kinda sad to watch, as the slow motion train wreck re-played itself. Really scary, when you think she could have been a (72 yr old's) heartbeat away from the presidency of the US. Thankfully, she's been out of the news lately, and we don't have to deal with her collossal ignorance. Kinda hard to believe it was only a few years ago, when they were programming her with stock answers ( all involving Freedom!) to avoid the issues, but it was so obvious she didn't have a clue. Makes Mitt and Rick look like true 'jeniuses', by comparison.

Eagle parents are busy

bringing in food to feed their two (one more soon) new eaglets. Wouldn't want to be a rabbit in that 'hood'. http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles

I shoulda known.

Got this pic of Bella right before she beat up Bailey and stole her food. Damn hoodies...

The pot is screaming at the kettle,

calling it 'black', as Rupert Murdoch (FOXNews owner) accuses rivals of distorting the news for their own ends. OMG, excuse me while I LMAO. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/29/murdoch-fights-back-again_n_1387451.html

In an effort at humor,

I am presenting this link for  Carol, Kari, Laura, Kathy, etc.  It shows how to use your 'leftover wine', to make vinegar. I imagine we'll be seeing lots of home made vinegar in the future... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/29/how-to-make-vinegar_n_1386270.html

the sheep are falling for it again. Surprise! Another group has claimed to have found Noah's Ark, and are bilking the gullible, for help with excavation costs. If there were ever a sure-fire scheme to seperate the rubes from their schekles this one is timeless and effective. Yup, all the animals in the world (with food to feed 'em) were put on one boat, the entire earth flooded, then it was repopulated with the Noah's survivors. Find pople who actually believe this and you have a never ending source of income, described by P T Barnum, as being born every minute. PS, Repubs pay big money for this mailing list.

If you ever doubted

the Repub/FOX disconnect to reality/average people, just look at the knee jerk (and I do mean JERK) reaction to Obama stating the obvious about big oil companies in a speech this morning. He had the audacity to say that Big Oil, after record profits in the tens of billions (per QUARTER) don't need billions of dollars in gov't handouts, in the form of oil depletion allowances and tax rebates. Right away, the Repub mouthpiece, FOXNews, screams this is the wrong time (like there'd ever a right time) 'raise taxes on business'. WTF? With $4/gal gas and record profits I don't think Big Oil needs gov't handouts, but of course I don't look at the world like FOX/Repubs, who are out to gouge every penny out of the system, which could go toward fixing the economy, which might help Obama win the election. Different priorities, obviously.

Can't think of anyone I know,

who hasn't read " The Hunger Games", but I imagine they're out there. Gotta say the movie is true to the book and they do a great job of recreating a future world where The Capitol controls all 12 Districts, and forces them to contribute a boy and girl to fight to the death, in the ultimate reality show, for the pleasure of privileged citizens. Won't go political, but it is a compelling book, that translates well to the big screen, with a fantastic cast. The biggest (non-sequel) opening in the history of films, which says a lot. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed, other than the FOX crowd who calls it 'anti-government'. Gotta admit, if FOX hates it, I like it even better. Good flick.

As I posted earlier,

it doesn't look good for those who would like the US to join ALL of the other major civilized countries of the world, in providing basic health care for it's citizens. Considering the composition of the court, and past decisions, the 'for profit' big business grip on the medical profession seems safe under Repub control. A Court that could give a disputed presidential election to GWBush, unleash Citizens United on our electoral process, and repeatedly uphold presidential war powers can be expected to have no hesitancy deciding the fate of the Affordable Care Act. Just plan on needing lots of money to spend on insurance/medical bills if you ever happen to find yourself sick or injured in the last country on earth where 'profit vs health' is in the hands of Republicans, and profit is winning.

Had a great day, yesterday

Image
as Carol and I met Ted and Kari, in downtown Denver, and saw 'The Hunger Games', which we thoroughly enjoyed. But first, we got to visit Ted's corner office, on the 11th floor, overlooking the 16th St Mall, with the Rockies in the background. Really nice. Obviously some demand for a skilled geo-physicist in the big-time world of oil exploration. After the movie, went to 'The Yard House', where the highlights were the craft beer and ahi tuna. Life is good....

For the third year in a row,

Image
Kari and her teaching group, (Jen and James) have rec'd the 'Governors Award, (and an A+ rating), for their work and teaching skills at Coal Creek Middle School. Good to see her being recognized for doing such a great job. There's a reason her students and fellow teachers love and appreciate her. Congratulations, dear.

The Decorah Eagles

Image
(check out live cam here, http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles  ), had a chick hatch, today, and now there is some major nest remodeling going on, as it is being converted to a '2 eagle' abode. Kinda interesting to see it happen, live.

If you wanna see

Image
a 'set up for TV'  moment, just check out Rick Santorum, (or 'McLovin'), after looking to see if the FOX camera is recording, jump the NYTimes reporter for mentioning the exact quote he just made about Romney, where Rick called him 'the worst candidate to run against Obama', saying it's 'bullsh*t'. THEN, he goes on FOXNews, claiming you're not a real conservative unless you've called out a NYTimes reporter. What marvelous drama, starring Rick Santorum, staged and run by FOXNews, while the Pub candidates avoid the hard issues, such as how to fix the economic, housing and job mess left by their last boy. Their only plan? More tax cuts for corporations and the 1%. Kinda funny/sad to watch.

During the Tebow/Manning media circus,

Image
John Elway, of the Denver Broncos, said that it was up to Tebow, whether he wanted to play in his home state of FL, w/Jacksonville, or be traded to the NYJets, and Timmie picked the Big Apple. Tebow denied this in public, basically calling Elway a liar. Now, the parties involved are speaking up, and it seems Tebow is the one who wasn't telling the truth, as the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars says Tebow didn't want to be traded to his team. Interesting article, here http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2012-03-26/jags-owner-says-tim-tebow-didnt-want-to-come-to-jacksonville?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl17%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D146788

Every once in a while,

late night comics are given a silver platter, with a steaming pile on it, and their jobs get real easy. Like whenever Sarah Palin is out and about, and when Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain were running for prez, etc, but the news of Dick Cheney's heart transplant was just 'too easy' for Jon Stewart on the 'Daily Show', (as well as Leno and Letterman). If you only watch Daily Show one this month, try to find last night's ode to 'the dick', who finally received a human heart. Later, Colbert explained that not only does a hoodie make a kid look like a criminal, but (showing Geraldo Rivera) a suit and glasses can make a jerk look like a reporter.

As the ONLY country

Image
in the civilized world who doesn't have health care for it's citizens, the US Supreme Court is hearing the Repubs/Big Business fight against it. There is BIG MONEY to be made from sickness/disease in America and it looks like it's coming down to party lines, as it always does. Repubs=Profits, Dems=Health Care. We'll see how it plays out, BUT, the Supremes are loaded with Bush apointees so it doesn't look good if you wanna grow old, and can't afford a thousand per month for insurance, where nearly half goes toward profit for 'middle men'. So-called 'ObamaCare' is a shell of what the Dems originally proposed. as lobbyists made major changes to get it past the Repub/Big Business guardians. A long process, that may or may not bring us into the modern world of medical care. Don't hold your breath, as the Rpubs have the 'Super Pacs' (corporations are people) to control the money (provided by insurance/med corporations). Doesn't look goo...

the Decorah Eagles had their first (of three) eggs, and gestation is approx 35 days, SO, it's about time to see a chick hatching. Pretty cool live website. http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles

candidate's quotes, and Mitt had another one today, when asked to be more specific about changes he'd make. Mitt said,  ' If I tell you what I'll do, I'll lose.' Oh Really? Seems Mr Etch a Sketch can acidentally be a little too honest for his own good.

Can't understand why,

Image
but the new Belvedere Vodka ad was quickly taken down, after complaints from women.

The market's up today,

Image
after Bernanke spoke, but some of the 'talking heads' disagree about what he said about a possible QE3. I think he was pretty obvious. Bernanke Monday said the improvement in the unemployment rate—to 8.3 percent—is out of sync with the modest pace of economic growth. “To the extent that this reversal has been complete, further significant improvements in the unemployment rate will likely require a more rapid expansion of production and demand from consumers and businesses, a process that can be supported by continued accommodative policies,” Bernanke said. I don't know how else to read it. The head money guy is talking about 'continued accomodative policies'. What more you need to hear, considering what direction to invest?

Saw 'The Hansen Files', on Dateline

Image
last night and don't know if they MEANT it to be stupid/ironic, but it really was. First they showed a squad of over 100 cops/soldiers/lawmen, with helicopters and ATV's, on a coordinated raid against 'Mexican Cartel Members', who were in actuality, a couple of illegal immigrant Mexican farmers who were growing pot in the mountains of Utah. The 2 illegals escaped. Then, they did the same thing again, a few days later, with the same small army, and again, the growers escaped. How much time and money was spent here? Then, the second half of the show was about teens (and others) getting sick and dying, from smoking 'Spice', a synthetic, but legal form of pot. Anyone else see anything really stupid here? Recent polls show over half the American public thinks pot should be legalized, BUT, the legal system (cops and lawyers) get so much revenue that it just doesn't happen, SO, you get the stupid 'Dateline' shows like we had last night, and billions of dolla...

After our 'Old Folks Boogie',

Friday night, we had our Old Farts Brunch this morning at the American Legion in Longmont. A HUGE, excellent breakfast, after which I shouldn't eat again, all day, but I probably will.  I learned you don't need huevos rancheros, B's&G's, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage. The biscuits and green chili would have been plenty by themselves. Good to see the crew this morning and this afternoon the kids come over. My kind of day.... P.S., the huge breakfast kinda ruined me for the whole day, as the old GI tract couldn't process it, and went through the rest of the day at halfspeed or less. Stupid. As always, was great to see the family, though I was continually sneaking away with intestinal issues.

'I'd never be against

a fellow human being getting a lifesaving operation, UNLESS, it's Dick Cheney, who just rec'd a human heart, in a body that I would imagine would reject it.' 'Cheney was a lightning rod for criticism during Bush's presidency, accused by opponents of often advocating a belligerent U.S. stance in world affairs during wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.' Typical quotes, after Cheney's heart replacement, as he was the 'heart of darkness' and 'the power behind the throne' during the administration that damaged America to it's core.

Pat Robertson, the evangelist

Image
who blames the Haiti earthquake on Haitians, who sold their souls to the devil, for freedom in the 18th century, is now claiming the Denver Broncos deserve to have their new QB, Peyton Manning, injured because they disrespected Tim Tebow, their Christian QB. He claims the Pope would agree with him, BUT, he's been unable to get any feedback on the matter from the pontiff who is too busy visiting Mexico. Can't make this up, and there're people who believe this stuff. Check it out, on Google.

Great party, yesterday,

Image
at 'Ralphies', as Paul retired and Kathy did a great job, putting it all together. Well over a hundred people, and a bunch of them I hadn't seen for MANY years. Reminded me how long we've been around here. Since the mid-70's, which makes us almost pioneers, in this part of the world. Kinda strange how all our  friends are getting kinda old lookin'. Lotta that going around. Will see the same crew tomorrow, as we have our monthly 'Old Farts Brunch', then have the kids here for another of Laura's 'Birthmonth' parties, a tradition started by Kari, who always thought a birth'day' party just wasn't enough.

Occasionally, I check in,

Image
on FOXNews, online, the Fair and Balanced 'news' organization. Couldn't find anything good about Obama, obvously, BUT, the propaganda arm of the Repub party did have a few articles about him, including, "How Much More Are You Paying for 'Obama's Gas" -- Obama Ducking Blame for Solyndra--- ObamaCare Double Original Estimates---Obama, Most Anti-Business President, Ever, etc. And this was just headlines of the first page, with MUCH more venom inside, BUT they continually deny being anything but 'Fair and Balanced', and can't imagine why Obama would call them out, the other day, for being biased.

Gotta admit,

Image
it's kinda fun, as we welcome friends to our way of life. Tomorrow, Paul is retiring, after a long stint in the real world. Good news, bad news, as he enters that time of life. Personally, I have been preparing for/living that time of life for  a while now. Is really nice having time each day, BUT, you gotta have a plan or some projects, or sometimes things get kinda slow. Personally, I've been focusing on being more 'social'. Bottom line, best time of life, as you have time to do what you wanna do, or do 'nothing', which is fun for a while. The bad news? Some people never get there, or know how to enjoy it, if/when they do. Like other phases of life, it's continually evolving.

Finally, some truth from a Repub candidate's commmittee,

Image
as the head of Romney's campaign had this to say, today, when asked the following question. 'Is there a concern that the pressure from Santorum and Gingrich might force the governor to attach so far to the right it would hurt him with moderate voters in the general election?' FEHRNSTROM: Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It's almost like an Etch a Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and we start all over again. Couldn't have thought of a better explanation myself, as the 'human-like' Romney will say whatever he thinks the people wanna hear.

Are you kidding me?

Image
ARBUTUS, Md. -- At a town hall here on Wednesday, Mitt Romney claimed that the economic policies of former President George W. Bush and then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson were responsible for keeping the United States out of a full-scale depression. Even in that fanatasy world of Repub politics, this one is 'way out there'. Bush saved us? The guy that inherited a surplus and drove us into the worst recession since the Great Depression, writing $860 BILLION in checks, to keep the country from going bust before he was run outta town with a 22% approval rating? That Bush? What you smokin', Mitt?

That's all they got for him?

Image
It's being reported that the Broncos, after acquiring Manning as their new QB, traded Tebow to the Jets, for a 4th and 6th round draft choice, and gave them a 7th. That's the best deal they could get? AND, he didn't even go back to FL, as Elway intimated he would, in an effort to make it easier for him, after being dumped. Woulda thought they could have gotten a good receiver or running back, or def lineman or SOMETHING, other than a couple of draft choices. Oh well, guess they were in a hurry, for some reason, but seems they coulda done better, OR he's not as valuable as some thought.

Don't wanna admit it,

Image
but we saw '21 Jump St', today, cuz we were bored, and it was senior discount day. For a while, I thought it was one of  the worst movies I'd ever seen, but Carol convinced me it was supposed to be dumb, therefore funny. Gotta admit there were funny moments, but, bottom line, was really stupid, SO, if it was meant to be that, it was a success, and the more I think of it, had some funny parts.

Oh REEEEALLY...

Image
"Fed by Fox News, they hear Obama is a Muslim 24/7, and it begins to seep in…The Republicans have been at this for 40 years. They have new resources, but the strategy is old,” Quote from Obama, in new book, where he acknowledges that FOXNews is the propaganda arm of the Repub party. Not exactly a 'newsflash', but what concerns me is the millions of viewers and listeners who actually think FOX is a legitimate news agency. Scary, but true.

Is kinda funny,

as Denver had Tebow, and the owner and Gen Mgr said, 'No thanks, we'd rather have a real QB'. Such is reality in the high finance world of professional sports. We'll see how it works out, but I like it, so far, as Denver trades Tebow for Manning.

Oliver North, one of the mouthpieces

Image
of the political whorehouse, known as FOXNews, (convicted of a felony for lying to Congress), is on his soapbox maligning Obama for continuing the pullout in Afg. 'The only way to leave a war is to win it,' claims Ollie, who is spouting the company line at FOX, where they've never met a war they didn't like. As Jon Stewart would say, 'Just shut the f**k up', and thank your high dollar lawyers that you're not in prison for your crimes. A ten year war just isn't enough for the FOX crowd, who would have us in perpetual war in multiple countries. Give it a break, you corporate shills....

WOW, Tim Tebow is out of a job,

Image
as the Broncos just picked up Peyton Manning. Personally, I have mixed feelings on the deal, and we won't know for years if it was the right thing to do. I do know, that Elway has been less than happy with Tim, and Tebow is many years away from being a top NFL QB, if ever. A player like Manning doesn't come around but once a decade, so if the Broncos can get him they should do it. The joker in the deck? Peyton had/has a serious neck injury that may or may not be an issue, AND, the amount of money he's getting is gonna cut down on the number and quality of players they can surround him with. Bottom line, I think he instantly makes the Broncos a much better team, and that's what it's all about. Don't worry about Timmie, he can probably find a job somewhere....

Kinda tired of b-ball,

Image
and too windy to go out, so we watched 'Midnight in Paris', (Thanks Ted and Kari), and I had a bit of epiphany, as I watched Owen Wilson discover people are the same, in different eras, BUT, I don't totally agree. In a cynical moment, I would have said Dems and Pubs are the same, and, while they are very similar when it comes to money and power, there is a HUGE difference. Dems don't attack, the other side of the world, with a bogus rationale, i.e., N Viet Nam attacked in us in the Gulf of Tonkin (total lie), OR, let's bomb Afg cuz 15 Arabs attacked us, OR, let's attack Iraq, cuz 'Curveball' (total liar) says they have WMD, OR, let's attack Iran, cuz they might get nuclear weapons. HUGE difference, as they both want the power and the money that goes with it, butt the Dems have a moral compass, lacking in the other party. Obvious, when you step back and look at the reality of the last 40 years, where one party craves perpetual war to enrich themsel...

The Buffs played really well,

for the first 3/4 of their b-ball game against A&M, last night, but couldn't overcome some fantastic shooting (9, 3 pointers) from Heslip. The good news? CU is really young, and is gonna be back, with experience.

As I watch, the Repub

Image
BS, about the 'easy energy' that the Dem environmentalists are fighting, it just makes me sick, as the ignorant masses might actually believe it. They make it seem that oil sands are there and waiting, BUT, what they don't say, is that it takes more energy to recover it, than it gives, even IF, there were water available, which there ISN'T, in the arid west. Typical Repub/FOX crap, that makes sense, until you look at reality. In Colorado, we deal with this daily, and it's just plain stupid, when you look at the facts. Doesn't stop the Repub/FOX propaganda. DEMS HATE OIL. Typical Pub/FOX crap, that the sheep 'eat up', but it's not real.

Has been interesting today,

Image
as the Colorado HS Girls Golf Regional is here at Eagle Trace. Lots of really good swings, and some kinda like mine. Most are really good, though, and fun to watch, as they all play past the house, with coaches, family and fans, in tow. Some of those girls can REALLY smack it.

I'm just sayin',

Image
as 'The Hunger Games' opens across the country, with the biggest movie opening in memory, that the first two books/movies are gonna be huge, BUT, am guessing they're gonna change the third book, as they adapt it to a major market. Just thinkin' out loud...

Just saw a live report from Breckenridge,

in the warm sunshine, and they're claiming the snowpack in the Colorado mountains, is gonna be at 58% of normal, this year. Lotta snow down here, early, with upslope storms, but the high country hasn't had the Pacific storms they need for moisture, which affects a LOT of area, downstream. Not too late to change, but looking pretty warm and dry around here, as we tied another record high today, and it's gonna be warmer tomorrow. 'Climate change?' Tornados in Michigan in March? Nah, that's just a liberal plot...

Great show on

Image
about Duke, in their back-to-back years, with Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill. Wow. '91-'92, but seems like yesterday. Hasn't happened since. Way to go, Coach K, and thanks for the memories.

Some people were shocked

with today's Denver Post headline. "Nene Shipped to Washington". Seems I wasn't the only one (see Mar 11 post) who thought he was WAY overpaid, for the attitude he brought to Denver Nuggets. 'I'll play when I feel like it, and the rest of the time I'll watch'. Now he's gone. Good! Nice guy, but way too soft, for the NBA.

FOXNews leads today, with the headline

Image
'The Trouble with Obama and the Democratic Propaganda Machine' Yup, this is from FOX, the Repub propaganda machine, that claims to be 'Fair and Balanced'. If there was ever a bigger joke in the 'journalism' business, I'd like to see it, as they bang the drums for a new war, in Iran, before we even finish the last two, championed by them, the political whorehouse, known as FOXNews.

Too much sun, down there?

At the same time Sheriff Joe Arpeio is coming out with new Obama birth certificate problems, but not telling anyone what they are, the mayor of Clovis, NM is coming out with this crap. "His background, language skills and physical characteristics made him ideal for the objectives of the CIA and it's [sic] role during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan," wrote Lansford . "The CIA trained and equipped Obama to use whatever means necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Obama was tasked with providing arms, logistics and money to the Taliban." ( Click on 'wrote Lansford', to see what the right wing, and this is a MAYOR, is spreading.) Maybe consider a hat, if you're gonna be in that hot sun all day, boys. And we still got 8 months 'til the election. It's gonna get real stupid, out there.

Yahoo, CU won,

Image
their first game in the NCAA tourney, but not before making it 'too exciting'. The Buffs blew a 20 point lead, in the 2nd half, and with a couple minutes left, were only up by two. BUT, they came through and won by six, in a game that shouldn't have been that close.

Had a little excitement,

Image
Weds eve, when we had some of the 'old farts' over to watch Survivor and have dinner. Had just come in from beer/wine on the patio, when several people said 'Wow, look at that,' as a huge owl swooped down on the deck. 'Where's Bailey?' I asked. Outside. Went out, and there were 2 HUGE Great Horned Owls in the trees, as Bailey got spooked, and ran up on the roof. The dumbest thing she could do, but she did it. The next few minutes were crazy as we tried to distract/scare the owls away. Finally, they left and Bailey came down, but it was real scary, for a while.

Was kinda funny,

as the network w/the b-ball games showed the refs 'stealing the game' and had the head official on, for a grilling, as they showed the obvious 'blown calls' that made the difference,  over and over. He hemmed and hawed, citing bad angles and human error, as it was obvious that the refs 'blew it', more than once. WTF is going on here? This is NCAA b-ball. Is nothing sacred? CSU and NCU didn't have a chance, once the refs took over the game. And, by the way, the officials were from the 'winning' conference, but just a coincidence, I'm sure.

Anyone else notice?

the HUGE amounts of military vehicles in Iraq, being decommissioned, along with camps, soldiers, etc, that we taxpayers paid for, as the Repub military/industrial complex got the largesse of 'endless war', that just happened to pump up the price of oil, for the GWBush crowd? All the 'no-bid' contracts, given to Haliburton companies. Just a coincidence, I'm sure. We're talking a trillion dollars, mostly to the Repub backed suppliers, as we pay for war on the other side of the world, based on lies. Just like Viet Nam. Some die and are wounded, while others make 'big money'. Some things never change, in the world of political war. That's the difference between Dem/Repub. All crooks, BUT, the Dems don't make the big money with war, based on lies. That's the domain of Repubs, and the MO stays the same. Oh No, the Communists/Muslims/Terrorists are out to get us. Let's bomb em/start war 'over there' so it doesn't come here. (But not ...

If you wonder

if there is corruption in sports, just look at the final 2 mins of the Syracuse/NCU b-ball game, today, as TWICE, the officials make game changing calls, that are SO obviously wrong. Just like the CSU/Murray St game, when they 'took over', and changed the outcome. 3 free throws vs. 16 to start the 2nd half? Unbelievable....

Most of us have wanted to,

Image
and some of us have, including Jon Stewart, on 'The Daily Show', yesterday. He just looked at the camera and blurted it out. 'FOXNews, Shut the F**k Up'. He went on to document, as he always does, the hypocritical and deceitful way they report the 'news', and, like lots of us, just couldn't resist yelling at them. Couldn't have said it better myself. http://www.thewrap.com/tv/column-post/jon-stewart-fox-news-shut-fk-video-36238

Is really funny

Image
as Romney and the other Repub clowns try to 'talk' and 'be' Southern, to relate to the yokels in AL and MS, as they fight for the Pub nomination. We all know these, and the other Bible Belt states are gonna go Repub, as they have the lowest income/education states 'wrapped up' in the national election. Ain't gonna vote for them 'collidge edgicated elitists', that's fur durn sure. Yup, the Pubs have that part of the world, where the family tree is 'missing a bunch of branches', all sewn up and in the bank. Dems need not apply....

If I had to vote,

Image
on the 'softest', most overpaid player in the NBA? Not even close, Nene, of the Denver Nuggets. What a worthless cream puff when the game's on the line.

Not sure how I feel,

which is kinda unusual, as the Peyton Manning-Tim Tebow soap opera develops. Like many things, I can see both sides, as I kinda like Tebow, BUT, hey, we're talking Peyton Manning, one of the top QB's of all time, while Tebow has a LONG way to go, but he's young, and a hard worker. Would be an easy choice if Manning didn't have the neck injury, but he does. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Carol and I

Image
hired a famous artist to do a portrait. I think he did a GREAT job.

Amidst a growing backlash

against Repubs for trying to force their beliefs on everyone, the sausage club that focuses on abortion and contraception, is forcing centrist women away from the GOP. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/us/politics/centrist-women-tell-of-disenchantment-with-gop.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20120311   Issues that were settled decades ago, are now front and center with the right wing conservatives of the Repub party. Instead of focusing in the real issues, like JOBS, where they only obstruct those trying to fix their mess, they bring religious issues to the forefront and are able to rile and rally their far right base. Let's see how that works for them this fall.

In the ugliest win I can remember,

Image
the Colorado Buffs won the Pac-12 B-ball championship, in spite of themselves. The Buffs totally quit on their offense, and were very lucky to hold on, cuz the other team was even worse than them. Never seen a less satisfying victory, as the coach, Tad Boyle, was lucky to survive, as he coached like a turtle who decided to pull in his head. UGLY win, as the Buffs nearly blew a 12 point lead, cuz they quit playing offense. Embarassing to watch, as they scored 9 points in the last 12 minutes, BUT, they are gonna play in the NCAA tourney. Hopefully, the coach learned something, as he nearly lost an easy win.

This is the crap

Image
the right wing sends, and they believe it, no matter what the facts say about Bush wrecking the economy and Obama gradually fixing it. Thanks, FOXNews, the sheep love and believe you.

The political whorehouse,

Image
which is FOXNews, had a main headline today, that questioned the REAL unemployment rate, after the 'official' number of 8.3%  was quoted by the gov't reporting agencies. They implied that Obama and the Dems are lying to make things look better. What these slimeballs DON'T say, is that it is exactly the same accounting method that was used by the Bush administration, (and others) to calculate the 'official' number. We all know it's actually much higher. They would have you believe,( IF you believe their crap), that the Dems are cooking the numbers to look better. Wrong. Nothing has changed, EXCEPT for the fact that the unemployment rate is 'gradually' improving after Bush and his henchmen wrecked the excellent economy they inherited in 2000, leaving a 'steaming pile' when they were run out of town in 2008. The sleasemeisters at FOX love to say, 'It's Obama's economy now,' but anyone with a brain knows the kind of damage inflict...

Met again, last night,

Image
with the 'Survivor' crowd, and had Don's delicious lasagna. Fantastic! Was really strange, though, to see what the men's team did, on Survivor. Never seen that, before, and hope it costs them. Always fun to get together w/friends, while we laugh and eat good food. Crazy show, though...

Just saw a great video,

Image
where Richard Dawkins (renowned scientist) talked, (and laughed) about Noah's ark, and the kangaroos trundling (swimming?) off to Australia, while the penguins waddled off to Antarctica, while leaving NO ancestors behind, along the way. Totally ridiculous, as an educated scientist looks at life on earth, and wonders about those who believe the earth is 5000 years old, and was created in 6 days. BUT, they're out there, and they vote, (Republican). It's easy to believe, just turn off your brain, as has been explained to me... Wouldn't really bother me, unless you realize a Rick Santorum, like GWBush, could be elected by these people. YIKES!!! Thankfully, most, but not all, Americans actually believe in education...

TripAdvisor rated the best beaches

in the world, and the beach at Tulum, in walking distance of Barcelo, where we like to 'winter', came in third. Not sure why it wasn't first.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/08/worlds-best-beaches-as-pi_n_1326872.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl18%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D141891

Today

Image
is 'International Women's Day', or, as Rush Limbaugh calls it, 'Sluts-a-palooza'.

In typical FOX fashion,

Image
they continue to just 'make it up', and report it as news. Fox News host Eric Bolling said on Tuesday that Sandra Fluke, the law student who has become famous for being attacked by Rush Limbaugh , was part of an elaborate White House plan to distract voters from the economy. President Obama and his "allies in the press" were "trying to pull a fast one on you," he said. Calling Fluke a "foot soldier" for the White House, he added, "President Obama, on the ropes with the economy and specifically with women voters, gets Mrs. Fluke to create a controversy, and the liberal media puppets play along as scripted." What a plan! Get Rush to call her a slut and prostitute. That Obama is a genius! FOXNews, just when you think they can't sink any lower, the 'Fair and Balanced' team never disappoints.
