The Pubs love to dump the entire Afghan disaster on Joe. Bullshit…..

Henry Rissier, Silverthorne Biden’s share of blame for the Afghanistan disaster is small

Re: “Biden’s lies,” Sept. 30 letter to the editor The letter writer’s interpretation of the Senate hearings disqualifies him from being a helpful source of information for those who don’t have time to watch the hearings. His emphasis is on whether or not President Joe Biden lied about the number of troops to remain in Afghanistan as being central to creating the “biggest disaster in American history.”

Leaving aside the letter writer’s hyperbole and selective reading of American history, the failure in Afghanistan was described as a 20year series of failures. Add in the February 2020 agreement signed by President Donald Trump with the Taliban (not the Afghan government or military) that prohibited any air strikes by U.S. forces, released 4,000 to 5,000 Taliban prisoners, and announced a departure date, and you have, indeed, a formula for disaster.

Toss in no Trump administration planning for the actual departure and an emboldened Taliban opposed by an incompetent and corrupt Afghan military, yep, that’s surely a disaster.

But the letter writer apparently didn’t hear any of this other information, plus so much more. So, I”ll pass on his being my source of information. But let’s suppose that Biden did lie. That means he has another 29,999 more lies in order to match former President Trump.
