FYI, the article below from yesterday’s Times.  For those of us who are longtime residents of Boulder County – losing NCAR (if Trump and his goons are successful) is like losing a crown jewel of a community – a community which reveres science and abhors the rank demagoguery and profound ignorance that is driving this vindictive and nihilistic move to crush so-called “climate alarmism” (in the words of OMB Director Russell Vought as quoted in the article below).

 

The barbarian hordes of the ignorant, hateful and vindictive are destroying our country.  These are the same people who persecuted Galileo and Copernicus for bringing Science and Enlightenment to the world.  Watching it happen all over again here in the 21st century is simply horrific – and deeply shameful for any sentient and rational American.


The Trump administration said it will be dismantling the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, one of the world’s leading Earth science research institutions.

The center, founded in 1960, is responsible for many of the biggest scientific advances in humanity’s understanding of weather and climate. Its research aircraft and sophisticated computer models of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans are widely used in forecasting weather events and disasters around the country, and its scientists study a broad range of topics, including air pollution, ocean currents and global warming.
