On July 21, I posted

about how I was SO sick of hearing how bad the oil leak in the gulf was/is. In this article, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38439191/ns/us_news-the_new_york_times/, you can read how most of the oil has dissipated, and they are having a hard time trying to find something to clean up. I am NOT saying we are out of the woods or that this wasn't a terrible spill/ecological mess. BUT, the main damage has been from the gov't overreacting and shutting down WAY too much fishing and drilling in the area, throwing a whole lotta people out of work. Sure, the oil is a mess, and will continue to be, but it's not the HUGE disaster that the media fed us for months. Our REAL problem is the economy that Bush and the Repubs thoroughly trashed. If we could only skim and clean our way out of that.....

It's gone inland; it's on the beaches; and it's underwater.......it's there. A barrel of oil has been pumped from the sea so far, but it's still out there. The effects will be felt for many years in many ways, health, pocketbook, ecology, business. Just wait and see.

Not disagreeing w/anything you say. Just saying it's not as bad as originally thought. The gov't reaction was/is worse than the problem, and it is NOTHING compared to the Bush trainwreck of 2000-2008

Why can't we slow things up until all the wells in the gulf are checked to see if they meet the safety codes and then get everyone to following the codes. From what I understand, the Horizon had turned off it's alarm. How many other rigs have done this? INSPECTIONS, PLEASE! Before drilling resumes.
