We have a bit of a problem here,
in the Denver area, with the cops beating the crap out of people, usually for 'resisting arrest', and getting away with it, UNLESS the victim happens to be the relative of another cop, which has happened a few times, lately. Then, the city's gotta pay out huge sums of money, cuz they are 'self-insured'. I know, most cops are good, but like any group, they got their bad apples, and I have run across more than my share, unfortunately. Good editorial comment in the Post this morning. How about paying these lawsuits out of the cops' pension plan? That'd stop 'em wailing on people, when their fellow officers realized they were actually getting penalized, for the actions of a few bad ones. One of those ideas that makes a lot of sense, but will never happen. Why not?
