I always wonder,

about those proud Reagan Repubs, whose memories of the B movie actor, with Alzheimers, are so far removed from reality.
Reagan ignored the raging AIDS plague, de-funded much of America's safety net, nominated candidates to run agencies whose missions they opposed, fired 11,000 air traffic controllers and decertified their union, increased the number of American families living in poverty by a third, tripled the national debt, lied about selling weapons to Iran in exchange for hostages, and, ahem, raised the debt ceiling to one trillion dollars for the first time in the nation's history.
BUT, according to his disciples, who are suckers for an 'actor', he's some kind of hero, because Communism inploded from it's own weight while he was in office. If there's a starting point to the debt mess we find ourselve in, today, it was the original clown in the cowboy hat (followed later by W) whose second rate acting fooled so many, easily influenced lightweight minds.

What the hell have I been telling you for the past year or so! Reagan started this entire mess! Wasn't Dubya, he just escalated it. Now the 'Pubs are trying to blame the Dems for raising the debt ceiling , whereas, the republicans want to take more away from the middle class and poor and still try to pork their agendas through Congress. Couldn't get them passed through standard bills, so they are trying to add them on to this debt meeting of the minds. Honest to God. Why not cut some of these overseas spending, such as paying all these so-called contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our government has paid Billions to contractors who never were! We can't keep track of Sh**! We pay to rebuilt and refurbish mosques for Muslims in Arabia for our frienemies. (Let me kiss your ass, while you teach your children to hate America.) That'll do it. We send billions of foreign aid to countries who totally dispise us and would rather see us dead than alive, and yet our country's infrastructure is crumbling around us, sewer systems which will soon give way, bridges and roads with severe problems. What are our lawmakers thinking? Drink up Shriners!!!

You both are so ignorant it isn't even funny.

And you, Anon....you appear not to shed any of your intelligence, or even your name to the discussion, instead you simply call us names. That's childish and inane, but you already know that. Come forth, oh learned one and present with your views. I'd like to know how much of a moron you really are.

Again, not a word from the infamous Anon. Must be studying for Summer school.

I was not calling anyone names; just stating a condition, one which can be overcome.

I'll start with poverty. According to the Census folks, the poverty rate for all families when Reagan took office was 11.5 percent. When he left, it was at 12 percent. Even the raw numbers don't support an increase of 33 percent...not even close.

Ladyj, you accuse me of name-calling. How about "suckers" or "easily-influenced lightweight minds" for starters. (Notice I correct the grammer here.)

And if the writer here thinks that communism imploded under its (again correcting the spelling) own weight, proves the writer here doesn't have a firm understanding of recent history.

I'll just say the rest of this rant is typical left-wing talking points and leave it at that.

All the ignoranus can come up with is a few percentage points on the poverty rate and some minor grammatical changes. Must be strange living in his bozone layer.

Wow, 2 anons. At least I know who one is. Those of us who lived through the Reagan debacle can remember the obviously Alzheimer-addled B-actor staring into space as Nancy answered simple questions for him, before the press conferences were stopped, but by then the bar was set so low that few actually noticed.

Politics is a sham. The Republicans don't want the Democrats to pass any reliable or workable Debt relief package that could possibly assist in gaining points for Obama in 2012. That's it in a nutshell. Republicans, have no plan of action that will help the middle class or poor, because, to them, these classes they wish to wipe out. This has been the 'Pubs aim for years. The rich have power!
I voted for Reagan, I'll admit it. He, like Obama, read a good script. When Ronnie deregulated most everything, business went to hell in a handbasket and there were no longer any checks and balances (see airlines and airtrafic controllers).
Under Rebublican control the rich get the gold mine and the rest of us get the shaft.
You don't like what I say, Anon, sit on your thumb and rotate. It's probably the best thrill you're gonna get.
