Sen. Tuberville Goes Full Jan. 6 Conspiracy Theorist On The Senate Floor

He doesn’t know the three branches of government, but he’s sure committed to learning revisionist history.

Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) took the Senate floor Thursday to lie repeatedlyabout what happened at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, amplifying the wild claims of conspiracy theorists who willfully distort the truth.

In a six-minute span, the former college football coach claimed, while providing zero evidence, that:

  • The 2020 election results were tampered with to ensure Donald Trump lost (this is false).
  • “Democrats and the deep state … orchestrated a coup against our government” (the opposite is true).
  • Nancy Pelosi “spearheaded” the Jan. 6 insurrection — not the Trump supporters who overran the U.S. Capitol because somehow she was responsible for security that day (this is false).
  • Speaker Pelosi refused to bring the National Guard in as backup (this is false).

Tuberville is currently running to be Alabama's next governor. Good luck, Alabama


House Republican Says Jan. 6 Insurrection Was 'Staged' And 'Made Up'

House Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) baselessly claimed that the Jan. 6 insurrection on the Capitol was “made up” when asked whether he supported giving federal payouts to people who had assaulted police.

“Look, January 6 is an issue that was made up in the first place,” Norman said. “That was a staged thing from day one.”
