Captain Bonespurs called for China to back new sanctions against Iran. China basically said, ‘F*ck you’ like the rest of the world…
A spokesman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs pushed back on a U.S. request to back crushing sanctions on Iran in a Thursday statement.
On Thursday, amidst announcing a plan to impose "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged China to "get with the program" on sanctions.
However, during a Thursday press briefing, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian demurred.
"China believes that military means, sanctions and pressure tactics are not the solution. On the contrary, they will only lead to escalation that serves no one's interests. We call for efforts to solve disputes through dialogue and negotiation, so we won’t be joining the sanctions." Jian said.
