Bessent’s Warning of ‘Economic D-Day’ for Iran Fizzles as it Amounts to Just More Threats

After days of framing the plans as an “economic D-Day,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced more of a warning shot: Without naming names, he said countries that continue to do business with Tehran would face U.S. sanctions, but nearly every country has already said they want no part of Trump’s war, and he can’t afford to alienate China, the world’s largest customer of Iran’s oil.
