For that PIG to put his name on The Kennedy Center is truly sickening, but if he can’t do it, the asshole says he’s gonna demolish it.
Those of us who remember JFK, and cried when he was shot, are especially outraged….except for the gullible, ignorant, brainwashed sheep.
Kennedy Center’s legacy is a living memorial
Re: “Kennedy Center controversy,”
To most Americans, John F. Kennedy is a revered figure. His presidency, tragically abbreviated with his assassination in 1963, is considered by most presidential historians to be among the 10 best administrations, although it lasted only two years.
During this short time, he established the Peace Corps, negotiated a nuclear test ban treaty, launched Project Apollo to put a man on the moon, laid the groundwork for future civil rights legislation, and achieved substantial economic growth.
His oratorical eloquence, most embodied in his famous admonition “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” still resonates. However, perhaps his most important achievement was keeping the world from nuclear holocaust in October 1962, brilliantly negotiating the end to the “Missile Crisis of October,” forcing the powerful Soviet Union to remove nuclear missiles from Cuba just 90 miles from the U.S. I shudder to think of the world’s chances had President Donald Trump been negotiating.
The Kennedy Center grew from 1958 legislation for a National Cultural Center. When JFK was assassinated in November 1963, legislation in 1964 renamed it the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, formally designating it as a living memorial to JFK, with construction completed in 1971. A tawdry attempt by Donald Trump, who will be in almost every American historian’s list of the worst presidents, for petty self-aggrandizement by pasting his name on the JFK memorial like it was one of his gilded Oval Office tchotchkes dishonors a truly great American.
