Just finished 'The Hunger Games',

which is the first book in a trilogy from Kari's reading class. Set in the future, each of 12 districts have a lottery, where they send a male and female (12-18 years olds) to compete in a real game of Survivor, with the winner being set for life, as well as winning extra rations for their district in the coming year. It is televised and provides entertainment for the Capitol residents. Won't get into any more details, but it is a very fast paced story with some interesting situations.

It is a tv series where ordinary people are transplanted to an area that has been destroyed, as in a holocost & they have to scrounge for food, gas, IE; basics to survive, using their common sense, intelligence, educational experience, living experience, etc. These folks sign up to do this series. They are not actors. This last one was filmed around a town that was destroyed by Hurricaine Katrina.

Great 'bargains' at the local Sprouts store

where we picked up asparagus and baby back ribs. Carol and I went for the same stuff (serarately, today), cuz it is so good, AND a great price. Had it for dinner tonight. WOW.
