I can't believe
that CU didn't make it to the Big Dance. After the last team was announced, for the NCAA B-ball tourney, the first thing the announcer said, "I can't believe Colorado didn't make it", The two sites I checked didn't even have them on 'the bubble' after they beat K-State for the 3rd time this year, and K-State made it. UNbelievable. Colo played Kansas, the #1 seed, really close, TWICE. Would be really interesting to find out what happened, when you see some of the teams who made it. The first question asked of the head of the committee, on live TV, was "What happened with Colorado?", and the guy had no real answer, other than, 'We look at a lot of things, including their style of play". What the hell! I just wonder what the real story is. Something REALLY stinks.

Colorado, probably more than anyone, has a legitimate beef. Kansas State was given a No. 5 seed this year, and Colorado beat the Wildcats three times this year. The Buffaloes beat Texas and they beat Missouri and they beat Colorado State. All three of those teams were ranked higher than anyone beaten by UAB.
Here's a look at this season's most controversial omissions:
1. Colorado (21-13, 8-8, RPI: 66): Considering Clemson and UAB's lack of quality wins, it's astonishing that Colorado did not make this field. The Buffs' three wins over Kansas State and victories over Missouri and Texas should have been enough to merit an NCAA tournament berth.
Gene Smith is chairman of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Which makes him the most powerful man in college basketball. Fiery darts come the chairman's way every Selection Sunday.
The first question hurled at Smith by CBS' Jim Nantz on Sunday was about Colorado. Why didn't the Buffaloes make the 68-team field?
Alas, powerful sportsmen are like powerful politicians. They never give you a straight answer.
“When we looked at them,” Smith said, “they just didn't quite get the votes to get in.”
Gee, thanks, Gene. Really insightful.
