The most advanced category of mass-produced semiconductors — used in smartphones, military technology and much more — is known as 5 nm. A single company in Taiwan, known as TSMC, makes about 90 percent of them. U.S. factories make none.

 The US Congress has addressed this issue and after of months of negotiations were close to passing a $52 billion bill to jumpstart US production and assure our businesses and military has these absolutely necessary chips.

BUT, McTurtleface and the Pubs are blocking it. Why?… Cuz they are holding it hostage to separate bills on Climate Change and a bill that would lower drug prices for us all, especially what the government spends for Medicare and Medicaid drugs. You see, McConnell and the Pubs get YUUUUGE money from Big Pharma, and this is their main priority, obviously.

McConnell — despite being one of 19 Senate Republicans who voted for the original bill — also appears to be wavering. He sent a tweet on June 30 suggesting that he will block a semiconductor bill if Democrats continued trying to pass a separate bill, on climate change and drug prices, that Republicans oppose.

And you wonder WHY I can’t stand ‘em?
