UN members reject Trump’s speech, again

Trump’s 37-minute speech was more than twice as long as the U.N. secretary-general had asked leaders to keep their remarks. Much of it resembled the typical speech at a White House event or one of his political rallies. He attacked former President Joe Biden, repeated his lie that climate change is not happening, falsely claimed that investigations into his acceptance of Russian assistance to win in 2016 and his extortion of Ukraine in 2019 were “hoaxes,” and minimized the dangers presented by unchecked development of artificial intelligence.

“These are the same people that are now saying that AI is going to kill us all, that robots are going to attack us, and that everything is going to be a total disaster. Same group of people,” he said. “This is the group that came up with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, the Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine hoax, climate change.”

Trump delivered a similar lie- and grievance-packed address a year ago, his first U.N. address since returning to office. That hourlong speech was also largely indistinguishable from one of his rally speeches…packed full of lies, from beginning to end.

Saw a good movie yesterday,

that really showed how fast time flies. Argo is about the hostage crisis in Iran, 33 years ago, and has a bit of history at the the beginning, that most of us have forgotten, as in WHY the Iranian people were SO pissed off at Americans. In 1953, the popularly elected president of Iran was replaced by the Shah of Iran, in a coup directed and financed by the CIA and the US, to protect America's Big Oil interests, much the same way Saddam Hussein was installed in Iraq. The shah, like Hussein, was a despot who tyrannized the people and looted the treasury. When he was overthrown, in a populist revolution, he fled to the US, but the Iranians wanted to put him on trial. Hence, the Iranian mobs took out their anger on the US embassy and it's workers. Argo, based on a true story, tells how Hollywood helped smuggle six Americans back home, with a fake movie. Good flick that explained a lot about why 'they hate us' over there, and brought back many memori...

I'm not a Bible scholar,

so I don't know if it's tue, but I read that Paul, the 'founder' of Christianity, author of the Gospel of John, and the most prolific writer of the New Testament, never referred to a virgin birth, in ANY of his writings. Neither did Mark, the first of the apostles to write a Gospel. Matthew was the first to add it to the story. Furthermore, they referred to Jesus as being of the lineage of David, to fulfill an Old Testament prophecy, BUT, the lineage is from Joseph, his father(?). Pretty interesting, I think, and doesn't make sense to me, but I'm just a logical, rational person, not a Bible scholar. Am I just 'misinformed'?
