Media ban, flying furries: GOP's midterm messaging is a mess | Opinion

People are shouting, 'Gas prices! Stupid war! Food prices! Health care costs!' And the Republican Party, weeks out from the midterms, is responding: 'What’s that? You want us to fight with the media, and get ‘furries’ out of the cockpit?’

A Marist University poll released Sept. 23 found voters have more faith in Democrats to handle everything from the economy and gas prices to foreign policy and immigration, as overall approval ratings for the Trump administration dipped under 30% in many polls.

That may be, in part, because pretty much everything has gotten measurably worse since Trump and the GOP took full control of the government. But another reason is that Democrats are focused on things voters care about, while Republicans are focused on banning media outlets they don’t like and, apparently, addressing the fabricated crisis of flying furries.

Saw a good movie yesterday,

that really showed how fast time flies. Argo is about the hostage crisis in Iran, 33 years ago, and has a bit of history at the the beginning, that most of us have forgotten, as in WHY the Iranian people were SO pissed off at Americans. In 1953, the popularly elected president of Iran was replaced by the Shah of Iran, in a coup directed and financed by the CIA and the US, to protect America's Big Oil interests, much the same way Saddam Hussein was installed in Iraq. The shah, like Hussein, was a despot who tyrannized the people and looted the treasury. When he was overthrown, in a populist revolution, he fled to the US, but the Iranians wanted to put him on trial. Hence, the Iranian mobs took out their anger on the US embassy and it's workers. Argo, based on a true story, tells how Hollywood helped smuggle six Americans back home, with a fake movie. Good flick that explained a lot about why 'they hate us' over there, and brought back many memori...

I'm not a Bible scholar,

so I don't know if it's tue, but I read that Paul, the 'founder' of Christianity, author of the Gospel of John, and the most prolific writer of the New Testament, never referred to a virgin birth, in ANY of his writings. Neither did Mark, the first of the apostles to write a Gospel. Matthew was the first to add it to the story. Furthermore, they referred to Jesus as being of the lineage of David, to fulfill an Old Testament prophecy, BUT, the lineage is from Joseph, his father(?). Pretty interesting, I think, and doesn't make sense to me, but I'm just a logical, rational person, not a Bible scholar. Am I just 'misinformed'?
