Continuing to be, 'Behind the Curve',
Repubs lead the opposition to 'same sex marriage', cuz they know that 'sexuality is a choice', and a sin. Remember how hard it was to choose? A new poll, out today, with 59% of the general populace approving of same sex marriage, shows how different groups look at the issue.
"Among the largest divisions, support for gay marriage ranges from 82 percent of liberals to just 27 percent of strong conservatives, and from 81 percent of the non-religious to 33 percent of evangelical Protestants.
Seventy-five percent of young adults (under age 30) support gay marriage, compared with 47 percent of seniors; so do 70 percent of Democrats compared with 40 percent of Republicans, and 71 percent of adults with a postgraduate education vs. 52 percent of those who haven’t gone beyond high school."
As always, statistics show the Pubs on the losing side of progress and enlightened thinking. Although they still have considerable political clout, the days are numbered for the aging, under-educated, Evangelical, conservative, old guard Repubs. As Dylan would say, 'The times they are a-changin', and so are SOME Repubs, but WAY too slowly for their party to have any hope of surviving, let alone expanding, without MAJOR change, as younger, better educated, more tolerant generations abandon them and their tired, judgemental, outdated dogmatic policies. Nothing new here. Anyone who can read a chart/graph can 'predict the future', as the tide of humanity flows on, with the detritus being left behind.
