In rightwingnut world, he's a hero

cuz he ignores the laws he's sworn to uphold, but Joe Arpaio is about to 'face the music'.

Last month, the sheriff basked in applause at the GOP convention in Cleveland, which granted him a speaking slot in which to bray about Mr. Trump’s virtues as the scourge of illegal immigrants. 

Now the sheriff has been stripped of key powers, by a judge appointed by GWBush, including authority over his own office’s internal investigations; he faces criminal prosecution and the risk of prison time. So far, he has cost the taxpayers of Maricopa County more than $40 million in legal fees in the current case, to say nothing of tens of millions more in litigation and settlements arising from lawsuits alleging an array of other misconduct by his office.
