The US used to get clean, cheap LNG, liquified natural gas from Canada. 55% of their total production. Then he started insulting them and putting yuuuge stoopid tariffs on our former ally. Sooo, now they’re gonna send it to Europe, a more dependable trade partner…and we’re gonna burn more COAL, thanks to Boss Hogg’s bullshit!

 OTTAWA, Ontario>> Canada announced a second major deal Wednesday to export liquefied natural gas to Europe, part of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s effort to reduce the country’s economic dependence on the United States.

The announcement came a week after President Donald Trump signed an order imposing 50% tariffs on a range of Canadian exports and amid a global energy upheaval caused by the U.S. war against Iran.

Canadian natural gas and oil exports have historically gone almost entirely to American customers. In a briefing note Wednesday, Canada said it now aims to sell 55% of its natural gas exports to customers other than the United States.
