Most pundits agree that John Huntsman, or even Mitt, could have won in 2012 if they would have been the candidate with a Moderate(R) agenda, BUT, the lunatic fringe, led by the Tea Baggers. forced the party to the FAR right, and while it was fun to watch, they couldn't get a majority of votes for prez, no matter what the prognosticators in their echo chamber (FOX) promised, though it was REALLY funny to watch Turd Blossom and his epic 'freak out'.
All signs point to the fact that the same tragicomedy will be playing out this year. In all likelihood, the results will be the much the same. Some say America needs a third party -- the Republican Party of old -- a party in which George H.W. Bush and even St Ronald could be at home. But, alas, in the era of Donald Trump, the Tea Party, the evangelical right, gun nuts and the ideological billionaires who are all too eager to fund their antics, we will not see sanity on the right side of the aisle this year or the foreseeable future. As a left leaning Independent I enjoy watching the Pub soap opera, BUT, when I see the victims of their folly, it's profoundly sad. The good news? They won't be getting the keys to the treasury and the military, after they totally wrecked BOTH, during their last 'reign of error', AND, they're really funny to watch, if you like grade school humor, while they appeal to their  double digit IQ base who love The Donald, can relate to The Huck and thought Sarah was VP material. Nothing new here, as the clowns refuse to learn anything from their self inflicted loss and subsequent, self-administered autopsy.
