I had no idea, until an article was forwarded to me,

but the New York Yankees used to have a farm team in my hometown of Kearney, NE. They left in 1959, but played at Memorial field, right beside Carol's house on the top of the hill, where she sold popcorn and peanuts for a dime per bag, and she got to keep a penny.
Gary Stickney, my English teacher and asst coach (several sports, incl b-ball) was the ball-boy and picked up several 'game-worn' jerseys, from players like Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle, which he kept in a cedar chest until he took them to 'Antiques Roadshow' (Omaha, 4-25-16), and found one was worth $100,000. He used the Mickey Mantle jersey as a car rag, cuz the 7 was coming off. -tube video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uP3GIpM-mCo
Pretty cool article, although Gary has aged a bit.
