Good article in the Denver Post this morning

about the Oglala acquirer, the world’s LARGEST freshwater underground pool, that took eons to form.

From the late 1800’s until 2005 it fell about 10%, and it lost another 10% in the next ten years, as farmers grew corn for ethanol, that takes more energy to create than it produces, in a Repub boondoggle that goes on and on. 

In parts of the aquifer where the corn farming is concentrated, the level has dropped ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FEET! Great news if you’re in the well drilling business, disastrous for everyone else that’s gonna NEED that water to grow FOOD, not ethanol, in the near future.

BUT, it does keep the farm states, ‘solidly Republican’, while increasing the costs of all other grains and the livestock that eats those grains.

Remember? It was necessary to get support for the GW/Cheney, ‘Oops no WMD’s fiasco’, and the farmers were HOOKED on the artificial subsidies and the DRAINING of the irreplaceable water continues, as the same jerks(R) deny the climate change that exacerbates the drought conditions.

Don’t you just LOVE the anti-science Pub Pigs who are wrecking our future for their political gains?
