Pretty crazy here, today,

as Bailey attacked a coyote, this afternoon. Really.... Bailey had been pawing at the patio door/window trying to get out, so we finally opened the door and let her out. A bit later I saw Carol go to the door, with a look of concern, and go out to the deck. Then I heard her screaming, really loud. Seems she saw Bailey sneaking across the deck, toward a (dog?). Then she noticed it was a big coyote, hunting after the fresh snow, right at the railing of the deck. As Carol and the coyote stared at each other, Bailey ran down the stairs, ATTACKED, and Carol started screaming. By the time I got there, the coyote was on the fairway, SLOWLY walking away, and Bailey was up the big pine tree. Seems that Carol surprised the coyote, and all at once, Bailey flew into the coyote's face, simultaneously clawing at both sides of his head. Carol screamed, and Bailey and the coyote took off, in different directions. I'm afraid that Bailey thinks the coyote is scared of her, when it probably ran away from Carol, and Bailey could try to attack again. Who knows, maybe it is afraid of her, after feeling the claws, but we've lost neighborhood dogs to coyotes, and had others injured. It's the same coyote (I call him 'scraggle tail') that I've seen stalking Bailey before. Now Carol and I are nervous, and Bailey thinks she's a real bad-ass. Not a good situation.
