In an effort to study,
for Carol's gala Academy Awards party, with the big prizes, we rented 'Boyhood' this afternoon, as the big snowstorm moves in. It's up against 'Birdman' for best pic, and I thought they were similar, in a way. cuz I didn't get into them, til they were both about 2/3 over. THEN, they got really good. Not sure yet, which one is my fav, but they're both really good, in different ways. 'Boyhood' has great music, and the cast does a fantastic job, in a really unique movie, as they followed a family for for 12 years. Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke did a FANTASTIC job, as they aged gracefully, with lots of comments on 'life as we know it'. I can't imagine 'editing' this film.... Was a good commentary on growing up 'liberal' in Texas, as Austin is a 'blueberry, in the tomato soup of Texas', as well as just 'growing up', but not really. Good flick, glad I saw it. Still not sure if it was better than 'Birdman'.
